Five specialty interest councils are part of the HBA of Greater St. Louis for an annual fee of $75 per council membership. Three are affiliated on the national level with the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), allowing members to take advantage of additional information, programs and services. Membership is open to all employees of members in good standing.
The 50+ Housing Council exists to encourage the development and management of a supply of housing for active adult and service-enriched consumers by serving its members through education, membership, research, communication, information, advocacy, and networking products and services. Through working with our Governmental Affairs Department, and the HBA Board of Directors we want to work to remove existing impediments to the development and provision of quality housing choices for this growing market and propose positive improvements to local governments. The council holds four to six programs annually including a bus tour. It is affiliated with the NAHB 50+ Housing Council. The Custom Home Builders Council (CHBC) offers regular networking and educational programs for members and presents targeted consumer seminars, when feasible. To join this council, complete the form below or you may fill out a .pdf of the application and mail it in with payment.
The Green Building Council serves to provide education and information on green building to HBA members. The council will provide quarterly seminars, and has an active green building verification program. The verification program is called the GBI-St. Louis Program. The verification process for the GBI-St. Louis Program is handled through Laclede Gas, the third party verifier, and the homes are verified for compliance with the NAHB Model Green Building Guidelines. In order to apply for verification through GBI-St. Louis Program, the builder must be a member of the Green Building Council. The Remodelors Council serves to provide education and information to both professional remodeling contractors and consumers. The council provides monthly programs and seminars, and is involved in community service projects. The council is affiliated with the NAHB Remodelors Council which provides Certified Graduate Remodeler (CGR) and Certified Graduate Associate (CGA) certification programs. The HBA Sales and Marketing Council (SMC) is affiliated with NAHB's National Sales & Marketing Council. The council hosts monthly breakfast programs for new home salespeople and other marketing professionals. An annual awards banquet recognizes top achievers in multiple areas. Two certification programs offered by NAHB are available at the local level. They are the Certified New Home Sales Professional (CSP) designation and the Master of Residential Marketing (MIRM) designation. During licensing renewal periods, special offerings are approved for continuing education credit with the Missouri Real Estate Commission.
